well i think the great fire their talking about was a Nuclear War and in order to survive after the war humans started experimenting which created the Tree-Folk and Fire Beast as failed experiment due to the fact tree people knows the history itself... then those scientist become immortal or most likely extended their lifespan and gained abilities nearly the same as Utawarerumuno... i think the failed human experiments resulted in the tree people and failed animal experiments created the fire beast... it might be they modified human genes to survive like plants who relies in water and sun that's why people burns even the human survivor's are still modified humans but a successful version of the tree people... the star is not really a star or a meteorite but a satellite LOL the creator of the sickle must be a former scientist and knows that the satellite will breakdown and fall to the surface and its most likely a weapon or a research facility.

I do not undestand this show, is it all genuinely supernatural, or does everything have a sci-fi explaination? When they talked about a pathogen created to thin the population and showed that satellite orbiting overhead that all gives me sci-fi vibes, but when they talk about gods and show ninja spirits bound to paper that all gives supernatural vibes. Is it a mix of the two or one or the other?

So a subplot finish, taking Kanata to Koushi but why let her keep the sickle? How does he know it fits her? Unlike others Koushi did not really saw Touko in action.
